WordPress practice: keep a contact box synchronized across posts
WordPress practice: keep a contact box synchronized across posts
Exercise goal: place a contact box in two test posts and update both copies with one edit.
Prerequisites: WordPress with the block editor and permission to edit content. Start on a test site.
In the first post, create a Group block containing a “Contact us” heading, a paragraph, and a contact button.
Select the box, open its three-dot menu, choose Create pattern, name it “Shared contact box,” and enable Synced.
Save the pattern. Option labels can vary slightly with the WordPress version and interface language.
In the second post, find the saved pattern in the block inserter and insert a single instance.

Save both posts and open their public views. The heading and contact text should match.
Change the shared text to “Replies during business hours” and confirm the pattern change in the save flow.
Reload both pages. If one is stale, clear its page cache and check that you used a synced pattern.
For an exception, choose Detach pattern in the second post. This option may be unavailable for a locked pattern.
Write custom text in the detached box. Subsequent edits to the original pattern should change only the first post.
Success check: synced instances change together, while the detached copy remains independent. Deleting the shared pattern can break its existing instances.
