Organized headings: a map for reading a page
Organized headings: a map for reading a page
Headings do more than enlarge text; they describe the structure of a page.
A page needs one clear main topic, usually introduced by its primary heading.
Use H2 for major sections and H3 for genuine subsections within them.
Do not choose a heading level only for its size; control appearance with styles.
A heading such as “Our services” guides readers better than a vague “More information.”
Read only the headings and check whether the page story remains understandable.
If the page jumps from H2 to H4, check whether a logical level is missing.
In WordPress, use a Heading block and select its level from the toolbar.
Review long headings on mobile so awkward wrapping does not overwhelm the page.
Clear structure helps everyday readers and screen-reader users find the section they need.
